You got your Damon Braces on by Dr. Rucker! Here’s a list of helpful reminders about what to expect as you are getting used to your braces.
Foods Guide
Avoid eating candy or foods that are hard, sticky, or chewy. These types of foods lead to cavities and will likely cause your braces or wires to come loose. Please refer to our website for an easy reference and printable guide.
Brushing
Keeping your teeth clean during orthodontic treatment is very important. Always remember to brush after every meal. Healthy teeth and gums are just as important as straight teeth in obtaining a healthy and attractive smile. To help you with this important job, we recommend using a Sonicare toothbrush during and after orthodontic treatment. Please ask us about the Waterpik at your next visit if you are having trouble keeping your teeth clean with braces and need a little extra help.
Sore Teeth
You may notice your teeth beginning to move into better alignment early on. This will cause your teeth to be sore, so eat softer foods and take smaller mouthfuls for the first few meals. Over-the-counter pain medication, such as Tylenol or Advil, are recommended for discomfort.
Other Concerns
Loose brackets or wire irritation may occur from time to time during your orthodontic treatment. we are available to help when these types of issues arise. Please reach out to our office as soon as possible so we can help you get comfortable as soon as possible.
